BLACK TO MY ROOTS by Kathya Alexander AND RENESCHIA BROWN

NOV 23, 24, 2024 AT LANGSTON

BLACK TO MY ROOTS

But it's only hair you might say. Yes, but hair as a metaphor for life. Just think for a moment of all the stories that can come from hair that has been: Pushed / Pounded / Fried /Dyed / Re-fried / Laid-down / Crocheted / Braided / Locked / Relaxed / Twisted / Extended / Weaved / Pressed / Luster-curled Jheri-curled / Hot combed / Flat ironed / Hair rolled / And curling ironed - all in an attempt to tame it, to get it to make sense to ourselves, our community, and the rest of the world.
